Are Digital Flyers Valid for Grocery Price Matching?

Digital flyers can be useful price-match evidence, but the ad still needs to be current, local, eligible, and specific enough to verify the exact product.

Policy last reviewed June 9, 2026 · Public retailer flyer pages; exact local terms require confirmation
It depends
The short answer

A digital flyer can support a Superstore ad-match request when it clearly shows a current local competitor offer for the same item. The flyer format does not override the official rules for the competitor, product, timing, or offer.

The evidence needs context

A useful digital flyer image shows the retailer, flyer region or local market, valid dates, item description, package size, and advertised price. A cropped price with no retailer or product details is difficult to verify.

Check before submitting

Confirm the current Real Canadian Superstore terms before submitting. A digital ad can be authentic and still be ineligible because it is expired, from another region, tied to a loyalty program, or for a different product.

Save enough of the flyer

A strong digital flyer capture shows
✓ Competitor name or banner
✓ Local flyer region or selected store
✓ Start and end dates
✓ Product brand, description, and size
✓ Advertised cash price and quantity terms
Any loyalty, coupon, or selected-variety condition

Keep the link as well as the screenshot. The link gives support a live source, while the screenshot preserves what was visible before the promotion changed.

Current and local matter

Flyers are regional. A chain can advertise different products or prices across Ontario, and a saved flyer can remain online after the offer ends. Set the correct postal code or store before capturing the evidence.

If the price appears through Flipp, read how Flipp fits into the request. Flipp helps locate an ad; the retailer offer and Superstore policy determine eligibility. See the Canada-wide guide for how flyer evidence fits into the broader policy picture.

Product details still need to match

The flyer may shorten a product description to fit the page. Check the underlying listing or fine print for:

“Selected varieties” creates uncertainty unless the ordered product is clearly included. Missing package size also weakens the comparison.

Digital flyer does not mean online-only

A digital version of a normal local flyer is different from a price offered only through an app, delivery service, marketplace seller, or website checkout. Those offers can have separate restrictions. See Can You Price Match Online-Only Grocery Prices?.

Send a readable record

Use one evidence file per item or label the attachments in the same order as the request. Preserve the dates and local context, then submit within the official period.

Frequently asked questions

Are digital flyers valid for grocery price matching?
Yes, when the digital flyer clearly shows the retailer, local region, exact item, price, and valid dates. The flyer format itself does not override the current policy for the competitor, product, or offer.
Is a Flipp screenshot the same as a digital flyer?
Flipp helps you find a flyer offer, but it's a discovery tool, not the retailer. Where possible, verify the underlying retailer flyer or product page behind a Flipp card.
