Price Match Rejected? What to Do Next

Start with the stated rejection reason. Fix a missing link or unclear screenshot when the underlying match is valid, but do not resubmit a claim that fails the product, timing, competitor, or offer rules.

It depends
The short answer

A rejected request may be worth clarifying when support lacked readable evidence or misunderstood a detail. It is not worth resubmitting when the products differ, the offer is excluded, the competitor is not eligible, or the deadline has passed.

Read the reason before replying

Do not immediately send the same request again. Compare the response with the item, competitor page, flyer dates, order receipt, and current policy.

Common outcomes fall into two groups:

The first group may be fixable. The second usually is not.

01
Identify the exact rejection reason
Use the support response rather than guessing why it failed.
02
Recheck the item
Compare brand, size, count, variety, attributes, and the product actually received.
03
Recheck the offer
Confirm local region, dates, seller, quantity, loyalty, coupon, and online conditions.
04
Improve missing evidence
Add a full screenshot, direct link, order line, or concise explanation only when it resolves the issue.
05
Reply once or let it go
Ask for reconsideration politely, then accept the official decision.

When a follow-up makes sense

A follow-up can be reasonable when the screenshot was cropped, the link broke, the reviewer missed the package size, or the competitor location was not clear. Supply the missing fact and refer to the original ticket.

Example clarification
Hi, I'm following up on ad-match request #[TICKET NUMBER] for order #[ORDER NUMBER]. The request was declined because [REASON]. The completed order item is [EXACT ITEM, BRAND, SIZE, VARIETY] at $[PRICE].The competitor offer is from [STORE AND LOCATION], valid [DATES], for the identical [ITEM DETAILS] at $[PRICE].I have attached a full screenshot showing the retailer, product, size, price, and dates: [LINK OR ATTACHMENT]. Could you please confirm whether this additional evidence changes the assessment under the current policy?\n\nThank you

When to stop

Do not keep arguing after support confirms that the offer or competitor is ineligible. A different package size cannot be corrected with a better screenshot. A loyalty-only or expired offer does not become a regular advertised price because the saving is large.

Do this
Respond to the reason support actually gave
Add one missing piece of relevant evidence
Keep the tone factual and concise
Remove invalid items from future requests
Avoid this
Send the same request repeatedly
Replace exact matching with a unit-price argument
Hide offer conditions in the follow-up
Treat approval at another store as binding

Learn from the failed comparison

Save a short note about the failure: wrong size, selected varieties, member price, distant flyer, marketplace seller, or missing evidence. That note can make the next review faster.

A smaller valid request is stronger

Remove uncertain items instead of trying to recover every possible saving. Support approval remains required, and a clean list of exact comparisons is easier to assess than a long mixed-quality ticket.

Frequently asked questions

Should I resubmit a rejected price match request?
Only if the rejection was due to a fixable evidence problem, like a cropped screenshot or missing link. If the products or offer genuinely don't qualify, resubmitting the same comparison won't change the outcome.
How many times should I follow up on a rejection?
Once, with the missing fact added. Repeatedly arguing after support confirms the offer or competitor is ineligible isn't productive.
