What data does PriceGoose use?
Learn what the app collects, what stays on your phone, and what not to send in a support request.
What stays on your phone
Camera images never leave your device. Barcodes are decoded on the phone itself, using the operating system’s own vision framework. No photo, frame, or video is uploaded, stored, or transmitted. The only thing that leaves your phone is the decoded barcode number.
What PriceGoose collects
- Your email address, to identify your account.
- Your location or postal code, used to find nearby stores. Location is optional — a postal code works identically — is sent with each scan, and is not stored against your account. Your location settings are saved on your phone.
- Your scan history, so you can review what you scanned and what it cost.
- Your favourites: the barcode, name and brand of each product you star, so you can find it again.
- Feedback text, when you submit it from the Account tab.
PriceGoose does not run advertising, sell shopping data, share data with third parties, or use device tracking identifiers. There is no App Tracking Transparency prompt because there is nothing to track.
Where prices come from
Pricing information is collected from publicly available Canadian retailer websites and public store locators. No login, paywall, or access control is involved, and PriceGoose never needs a retailer account or password from you. Do not give any retailer password to PriceGoose or to support.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account and its data from the Account tab in the app, or from pricegoose.ca/delete-account. Deletion removes your account, scan history, favourites, and settings.
